Motor Disconnects and Fuses

Motor disconnects and fuses are used to ensure that fan motors do not overload. They are generally required for safety reasons (an overheated fan motor can cause a fire). A disconnect is also used to quickly stop electricity from reaching an external unit without the repairman having to go into the house to throw breakers.
